Wood's  GIS Laboratory

Our  mission is to apply Space-based
technologies for disease prevention.

Est. 1996
The laboratory was established in 1996. It was renamed  Byron Wood GIS lab  in
Oct. 2004, in memory of Late  Byron Lee Wood and Late Louisa Beck. Both
contributed immensely to GIS training in Africa and were both successive directors
at CHAART NASA Ames. "They were good colleagues at  CHAART NASA Ames." -
Dr Philip Njemanze
Our goal is to use risk analysis, remote sensing, geographic information system
technologies and global positioning system  for planning localization of  water
resources for prevention of diarrheal diseases, see details at  Dr Njemanze -
Principal Investigator Diarrheal  Project - Global Health Monitoring Program NASA
Ames Moffett Field, CA.
We advocate  the use of satellite technology and aerospace related warning
systems (STARWARS) for disease control. We have recently devised neural
network modeling for biological and ecological systems. We provide capacity
building for healthcare related applications of these systems.
