Mission Statement
The foundation was established in 1993 to support health
awareness campaigns in the church communities on the health
risks of hypertension and stroke by Princess Lady Maria Celine
Ihenacho [Photo x 4].
Until she passed away on 26th August 2004, she organized
both rural and urban women to receive free health care from
our medical facilities and particularly emphasized the need for
regular blood pressure checks, control of body weight, exercise
and diet. Her foundation supports research on screening
measures for example, body adiposity as a risk factor for stroke
[Stroke], and development of simple bedside tools for stroke
management [Full-text]. The foundation supports education on
healthy diet regimen for patients. Central to the work of the
foundation is organization of mass rallies, health awareness
campaigns involving women as home managers. Overall
reduction in family tension, exercise during gardening and
encouragement of positive family values are seen as measures
that could be best advocated by an informed mother. The
foundation supports the health dialogue between rural women
and the medical personnel in church communities. The
foundation has proposed a National Hypertension and High
Cholesterol Education and Prevention Program. As well a
National Fitness Program. Both legislative and structural
designs of these programs has been proposed and efforts
continues towards actualization.
